Project Definition Phase

During our Project Definition Phase, Team Spirit works with you to achieve an understanding of your business objectives for your project, to figure out how we can help you to achieve them, and to develop our Project Plan and Statement of Work. Our Project Definition Phase culminates in our delivery of our Statement of Work for your approval.

Our Project Plan

Team Spirit develops a Project Plan that establishes

  • the project’s primary goals
  • your product or strategy team’s key members and their roles, including your Project Champion and our Team Leader at Spirit
  • the scope of our involvement in your project and the services that we are to provide
  • for a digital product design project, the project’s product development lifecycle, including which aspects of our user-centered design process it incorporates
  • milestones for each phase of your project, including deliverable work products
  • schedule and budgetary constraints for the project

Our Statement of Work

Once your organization and Spirit Softworks have agreed upon a Project Plan and the services that Team Spirit is to provide, we bring together a team of consultants tailored to meet the specific needs of your project. We provide a detailed Statement of Work that

  • clearly defines project phases, objectives, roles, and responsibilities
  • documents our user-centered design or strategy activities and our work products for each phase of your project
  • provides cost estimates for all user-centered design or strategy activities
  • identifies essential project resources, including personnel—both your in-house product team and Team Spirit consultants—equipment, software, project documentation, and access to your organization’s products, services, or prototypes
  • establishes a business agreement between Spirit Softworks and your organization, demonstrating our mutual commitment to the Project Plan

Our Work Products

During each phase of your digital product design or strategy project, Team Spirit produces work products that provide the information that your product or strategy team needs. The work products that Team Spirit provides can vary greatly depending on the nature of your project. For user experience strategy projects, we provide reports that document our recommendations and whatever other deliverable work products are appropriate to the needs of your project. Our typical deliverable work products for digital product design projects appear under individual research, analysis, design, and usability evaluation activities.
