Usability Testing

At any point in your product development cycle, Spirit Softworks can conduct one or more rounds of usability testing on prototypes of your digital products, existing versions of your digital products, or your competitors’ products.

During Our Discovery Phase

Early in your product development cycle, during the Discovery Phase of our UC3D Lifecycle™, Spirit can test the usability of a prototype of your digital product, the current version of your digital product, or your competitors’ products to

  • determine whether your target users can successfully use the product to complete important tasks
  • identify the product’s strengths and weaknesses—particularly, its usability problems
  • provide our design recommendations for solving those problems

During Our Early Design Phase

During the early part of our Design Phase, following conceptual modeling and information architecture, Spirit can perform usability testing on prototypes of alternative design concepts to determine whether

  • our conceptual models match users’ mental models
  • our workflows allow users to successfully complete key tasks
  • our information architecture helps users to find important information

Iterative cycles of design, prototyping, and usability testing enable us to quickly identify any usability problems and refine our product design to solve those usability problems. By conducting usability testing at this early stage and discovering usability problems before your development team has expended much effort on implementation, we can improve the usability of your digital product, reduce your project’s level of risk, lower development costs, and improve your return on investment.

During Our Design Phase

During the Design Phase of our UC3D Lifecycle™, following user experience design and specification, Spirit can perform usability testing on a prototype of your digital product to

  • determine whether participants can successfully complete key tasks or find important information using the prototype
  • identify any usability problems

Iterative cycles of design, prototyping, and usability testing enable us to identify any usability problems, refine our prototype, and solve those usability problems.

During Our Development Support Phase

During the Development Support Phase of our UC3D Lifecycle™, Spirit can perform usability testing on either a high-fidelity prototype that your development team has created or a prerelease build of your actual product to

  • determine whether participants can successfully use your prototype or product to complete key tasks or find important information
  • ascertain how well your prototype or product meets the needs of your target users
  • identify any usability problems
  • provide our design recommendations for solving those problems
